Our Northern Wisconsin Hardwoods are known nationally and globally for unique characteristics that provide high value for many finished product applications, in addition to the wood industry supplying the raw product for our prominent paper and packaging industry in Wisconsin.

The Hardwoods Marketing Group project conducted a market study to help solidify and grow our region’s largest industry sector:  wood products. This report focuses on the eight county area of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marinette, Oconto, Oneida, and Vilas, in regards to expanding markets for hardwood products produced in the region. The forest industry plays a significant role in the economies of these eight counties. Forest industry is the top employer in two of the eight counties and is the top ten in five others.
